OneRepublic is an American pop rock band formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado[2] in 2002 by lead vocalist Ryan Tedder and guitarist Zach Filkins. It also consists of guitarist Drew Brown, bassist and cellist Brent Kutzle, and drummer Eddie Fisher. The band first achieved commercial success on Myspace as an unsigned act.[3] In late 2003, after OneRepublic played shows throughout the Los Angeles area, a number of record labels approached the band with interest, but the band ultimately signed with Velvet Hammer, an imprint of Columbia Records. They made their first album with producer Greg Wells during the summer and fall of 2005 at his studio, Rocket Carousel, in Culver City, California. The album was originally scheduled for release on June 6, 2006, but the group was dropped by Columbia two months before the album ever came out. The lead single of that album, "Apologize", was released on April 30, 2006, on Myspace and received some recognition there, becoming number one on the Myspace charts.

In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize", was notably remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries and subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination.[4] The second single, "Stop and Stare", mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the singles "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", with the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100.

OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself", charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007.

On October 7, 2016, OneRepublic released Oh My My, their fourth studio album, which featured a number of collaborators, including CassiusPeter Gabriel, and Santigold. Preceded by the singles "Wherever I Go", released on May 13, 2016, and "Kids", released on August 12, 2016, it was recognized as a change in their sound in contrast to previous albums by both critics and the band itself. In 2017, the band released the singles "No Vacancy", "Truth to Power", "Stranger Things" with Kygo and "Rich Love". To date, the band has sold approximately over 50 million records worldwide.

Venue: Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre, Discovery of India Section, Worli
Date : Sat 17th Feb 2018 at 6.30 p.m

Ustad Irshad Khan is accompanied by Uday Ramdas on Tabla. He is the son and disciple of Ustad Imrat Khan, and nephew of Ustad Vilayat Khan, Irshad, dubbed as the “Mozart of Indian Music” (Isthmus,Milwaukee U.S.A.), is one of the foremost representatives of a musical heritage unprecedented in India. He is the torchbearer of the younger generation of the leading school of Sitar, known as the Imdadkhani Etawa Gharana.

Internationally recognized as one of the greatest living Sitar players and as the leading Surbahar (bass sitar) exponent of his generation, his expertise in both instruments ascends from the distinctiveness of his technique and mental prowess. His style is followed and inspires many formative and professional sitar players of his generation.
His phenomenal control of the intricate “gayaki-ang”(vocal) and “tantra-ang”(instrumental) styles, whether performing  traditionalragas, or musical forms outside Indian classical,  stimulates the imagination. Constantly searching for new ways to communicate with audiences, he transcends cultural barriers turning each performance into a spellbinding and unforgettable experience.

A child prodigy, his international debut at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, was only at 13. At 18, he made history by becoming the youngest soloist to perform at one of the most prestigious international music festivals
held in London, known as the Indian All Night Concert at the Proms. He has played in over 40 countries and the
Founder / President of Universal Academy for Musicians, based in Ontario and Mumbai, he conducts workshops, lectures and masterclasses in various educational institutions.

As his students come from different musical backgrounds – jazz, flamenco, African and Western classical, his  Academy promotes cross-cultural collaborations and exchanges between different musical cultures. Their mandate is to preserve and propagate the particular strengths of Indian music. Says Irshad, “You are never too old to learn music, but you do need the time to practice. If you didn’t get the chance to take music lessons when you were a kid, be assured that it’s never too late. Indian classical music is one of the best tools for energizing or soothing your soul and boasts of perhaps the most sophisticated systems of rhythmic structures and patterns, as well as its emphasis on improvisation.”

Hard Rock Cafe1

Located in a former mill, the Mumbai outpost of the US chain of resto-bars has a mixed reputation among the city's musicians. In the first couple of years after opening, in 2006, indie rock acts were often asked to include a stipulated number of cover songs in their set lists. These days, Hard Rock Café, which hosts gigs every Tuesday and Thursday night, sticks mostly to cover bands, with a couple of dates a month spared for indie groups. Skip these gigs, and come here only for the ticketed events, when one of the seating areas is cleared to make room for a larger stage, for performances by Indian indie icons (folk-fusion veterans Indian Ocean, electro-rock superstars Pentagram), international chart toppers (Wyclef Jean, Jay Sean) or club-packing DJs (Bob Sinclair, Paul van Dyk). Be warned, though: the waiters break into a synchronised jig every time the Village People's "YMCA" comes on.

Bombay Dyeing Mill Compound, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Worli, + 91 22 2438 2888, Open daily noon-1.30am. Performance times and entrance fees vary
